Founder of the Conservation Ecology Research Unit (CERU)
In 2005, Dr. van Aarde founded the Conservation Ecology Research Unit (CERU) at the University of Pretoria. Under Dr. van Aarde’s leadership, the research unit has grown to include over 100 researchers and students, working on projects related to a wide range of species, including elephants, rhinos, and birds.
